Ed Horton Selected ABA MVP

The American Basketball Association today announced that Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks guard Ed Horton has been selected as the League’s Most Valuable Player for the 2013-14 season.

Horton led the Mavericks to an unprecedented undefeated (34-0) season! The Mavericks also captured its 3rd ABA/Pro Basketball National Championship on April 14th. The Mavericks are the 1st ABA team to win 3 National Championships!

Horton averaged 18.2 points per game, 4.5 assist per game, and 2.2 steals per game for the season, while shooting 54.6% from the floor, 44.4% from the 3 point line, and 77.2% from the free-throw line.

Horton was an ABA All-Star this season and was a 1st Team All-ABA player. He was also chosen as the MVP of the ABA Championship Finals and becomes only the 2nd player in ABA history to be chosen ABA MVP and Championship Finals MVP in the same season. The other was former Mavericks player Josh Pace during the 2009-10 season.
