Mavericks Go Undefeated In Regular Season (27-0)


#1 - Shreveport/Bossier Mavericks 131-- Jackson Showboats 101


The Shreveport/Bossier Mavericks quest to finish the 2013-14 ABA Regular Season unbeaten did not come easy on Sundayafternoon at the Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, LA

The sharp shooting Jackson Showboats led by point guard Jon Phelps came out firing on Sunday afternoon. Phelps long range 3 pointers helped the Showboats take a 7 point lead at 22-15 in the 1st quarter. The Mavericks fought back to trail by 1 point 27-26 after one period of play.

Jackson kept pressure on the #1 ranked Mavericks early on in the 2nd period of play. But Ed Horton, Trey Moore, Jon Rogers, and Brandon began to take control of the game. The Mavs led at half-time 55-50. The Showboats Phelps finished the first half with 25 points.

In the 3rd quarter Currye Todd got into the act with his long range shooting. Todd, Moore, and Horton led a run that put the Mavericks up by 12 points at the 5 minute mark of the 3rd period of play. The Mavs led by 12 heading into the final quarter of play.

The 4th quarter belonged to the Mavs Big Men. Rogers, Davis, Alex Sanders, and Chad Eichelberger controlled the lane area and the Mavericks began to get defensive stops and convert them into easy baskets. The Mavericks got separation and total control of the game to stretch their lead to 32 points with 3:30 to play.

The Mavericks finish the regular season undefeated with a 27-0 record.

The Post-Season now awaits the Mavericks! "GO MAVS!!!"

The Big Men for the Shreveport/Bossier Mavericks played Big throughout the game on Sunday afternoon. John Rogers (20 points - 13 rebounds) and Brandon Davis (18 points - 16 rebounds) both had Double/Doubles. Chad Eichelberger blocked 5 shots and Alex Sanders also pulled down 10 rebounds.


The Mavericks finish the ABA regular season with a 27-0 record (the Mavs now have broken their single season record for most consecutive wins in a single season of 26 they set in the 2010-11 season. 27 wins now stands as the most consecutive wins in a single season).


The Mavericks have now won a record 53 straight games (59 straight wins at home)! This is the longest Pro Basketball Winning Streak in Professional Basketball History! The Mavericks hold a 116-7 record in the ABA over 4 seasons.


The Mavericks will play a Post-Season Schedule that will lead them up to the ABA Championship Finals on April 10-15 to be held at the Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, LA. The Mavericks will play at home on Saturday, March 15th, Saturday, March 22nd, and Saturday, March 29th. All games will tip-off at 7:30 PM.
