Shreveport-Bossier City, LA Being Considered As New Home For Championship ABA Basketball Team

April 4, 2013 - Winnie, TX--Jerry Nelson, Jr. knows more than a bit about being a maverick – whether it’s in a rodeo arena or on a basketball court.

True to his nature, the owner of both the Frontier Rodeo Company, based in Winnie, Texas and the (formerly Southeast Texas) Mavericks, is considering an unprecedented move for his championship team.

At the top of his relocation list is northwest Louisiana – specifically Shreveport-Bossier.
This could be a magical move for a team that holds back-to-back American Basketball Association National Championships (2010/2011), and a first for a region that has yet to host an ABA team.

According to head coach Steve Tucker, “So far, the feedback we’re getting from area business owners and fans is all overwhelmingly positive. We are excited about the prospect of relocating the team to this area.”
If the sports’ stars align, the (Shreveport-Bossier) Mavericks will be playing their first home game this November.

To show support for the move, Shreveport-Bossier sports fans are urged to like the Mavericks’ Facebook page located at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Shreveport-Bossier-Mavericks/, To find out more, fans can also visit www.abamavericks.com.
