Mavericks Sign Kentucky Native

(Owensboro, Ky) – Your Kentucky Mavericks are making moves again signing 24 year old Kentucky native Corey Wilford.  The 6’2 guard played for Christian County High School, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where he averaged 17 point per game his senior year.  He led his team to the state playoffs, earning himself Honorable Mention All-State recognition.

Wilford played two years for the Connors State Junior College before transferring to Southeast Missouri State (SMS).  At SMS he started 27 out of 57 games played.  During his time at SMS, Wilford averaged 10.8 points per game, shooting 40% from three-point range, in 22.6 minutes per game.

After college, Wilford came back close to home signing with his first professional team, the Bowling Green Bandits of the ABA.  He averaged 33.5 points per game this season.  He also shot 70% from three-point line including a two game stretch where he shot 22-22 behind the line.
