The Shreveport-Bossier City Mavericks today announced the return of Jon “The Big Man” Rogers, the 6’11”, 240 lb. center who helped the team win back-to-back American Basketball Association (ABA) National Championships in 2010 and 2011.

With Rogers starting at center, the Mavericks went 52-4 over two seasons – and The Big Man earned a place on the 2011 ABA All-Star Team.

“Jon was the most dominant center in the ABA,” said Steve Tucker, president and head coach of the Mavericks. “He averaged 11.7 points, 14.1 rebounds, and 4.5 blocked shots per game in his two seasons with the Mavs.”

Rogers wrapped up a season of professional basketball in South America just in time for today’s road trip. The Mavericks, who are ranked #1 team in the ABA Power Rankings, take on the #19 ranked Mobile Bay Tornados tonight, Feb. 1, in Mobile, Alabama.

Fans will get to see The Big Man in home court action when the Mavericks face-off against the Dallas Diesel at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, Feb. 6, at the historic Hirsch Coliseum.
