SB Mavericks Summer Camps and Programs offer opportunities for youth of all ages, skill levels

(Shreveport, LA.) – As the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks’ season nears the home stretch, the team is making plans for a memorable Summer filled with camps and programs for local youth of all ages and basketball skill levels.

In all, 11 different programs and camps are available, highlighted by the free Mavericks Camp of Champions, Mavericks High School Select Teams, and private, one-on-one lessons with players, coaches and staff from the three-time ABA champion Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks.

The SB Mavs will also be holding Summer training programs for college, semi-pro, and pro athletes looking to improve their games. Details on these sessions will be available later in the Spring.

The brand-new Mavericks Training/Practice Facility, located right across the street from the Mavs’ Hirsch Memorial Coliseum home, is also available for rental for such events as birthdays, youth basketball tournaments, press conferences, and more. The Mavericks Camp of Champions is a free camp for boys and girls from ages 5-18, and will be held April 4, just days prior to the ABA Championship Finals coming to Hirsch Memorial Coliseum on April 7. The camp will include instruction from Mavericks players and coaches, and those in attendance receive a free ticket to the ABA Championship Finals.

The Mavericks Select Teams offer a very intense, focused, disciplined opportunity for high school-aged boys and girls. The teams will be run from April to July with tryouts April 18-19. The programs will consist of 29 two-hour practices – including a two-week boot camp – along with six competitive prime-time tournaments in Shreveport, Tyler, Tx., and Dallas.

The Mavericks Developmental Teams will consist of middle school players that are looking to play and learn competitively over the Summer. They will have 16 90-minute practices throughout May, June, and July. These teams will showcase their skill in three official scrimmages, where they will apply their skills team- and game-like situations. This will be a very intense, focused, disciplined experience for players.

Two Mavs Basketball Academies highlight June, with the first five-day camp running June 1-5 and the second June 15-19. These camps are for the serious player only, and middle and high school boys and girls will need to apply to qualify for the Academies. The Academies will be five days of strict and professional workouts, followed by an hour of film sessions and teaching daily.

The Mavericks Basketball Camp is a three-day session open to boys and girls ages 5-18. The camp runs from May 26-28, and many fundamentals of the game will be taught by Mavericks players and coaches.

Private lessons are available for players that are looking for one-on-one attention from the very best players, coaches and staff in the ABA, the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks.
