Shreveport-Bossier forced Baytown (6-2) into a staggering 35 turnovers while doling out 31 team assists, led by Chris Hagan’s eight dishes.

Couisnard led seven Mavericks in double figures, firing in 21 points, his third straight game with 20 or more points. The 6-foot-4 swingman from Houston’s Yates High also snagged seven rebounds and had five steals.

“P.J. again showed the form that has made him an all-league player and a Championship Finals MVP in 2011,” said Tucker.

Joining Couisnard atop the Mavs scoring ledger were Josh Pace, Anthony Jackson and Jon Rogers with 12 points each; and Currye Todd, Hagan and Alex Sanders with 11 apiece.

“We always like to return to southeast Texas and the Golden Triangle area,” said Tucker, who will be going for his historic 600th career win Saturday at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum. “It is also close to Houston, and it gives our players a chance to play in front of their families. This is always a good trip for us.”

Next up is a busy first weekend of 2015 for the Mavs as they welcome the Birmingham Blitz Saturday, January 3, at 7 p.m. and the Texas RimRockers Sunday, January 4, at 4 p.m. The Mavericks defeated the RimRockers 130-88 December 18 at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum.

The following Saturday, January 10, the Mavs take on the #2-ranked Bowling Green Bandits at Hirsch in the second #1 vs. #2 matchup of the season. Shreveport-Bossier defeated former #2 Jacksonville 113-96 on December 13.
