Despite the Mobile Bay Tornados best effort, the Shreveport Bossier Mavericks won their 50th consecutive game. They are 24-0 on the season.

With the blazing start the #1 ranked Mavericks had in the first quarter, it seemed that they would have no difficulty defeating the #20 ranked Mobile Bay Tornados. However in the second quarter Erik Thrash of the Tornados was not going to be denied. The Mavericks’ lead was cut 10 points, 51-41, by half time, because of Thrash’s 3 pointer assault.

The score in the third was pulled even closer in the third; the lead cut to only 5 points with nearly seven minutes left in the quarter. A 6-0 Mavericks run led by Trey Moore then extended the lead to 72-61.

Leading into the fourth quarter Jon Rogers put on a display with his dunking abilities. This led to a fourth quarter that saw the Maverick domination that has become their trademark in the final quarter.

Once again the Mavericks had multiple players score double digits in the game. Brandon Davis and Jon Rogers were stellar standouts on defense. Rafael “The Manimal” Johnson recorded a Double/Double with twelve points and eleven rebounds.
The Mavericks lead scorers were Ed Horton – 15 points, Trey Moore – 14 points, Mike Crain – 13 points, Rafael Johnson – 12, Alex Sanders – 12 points, and PJ Cousinard – 11 points.

Erik Thrash was the lead scorer for the game and the Fresh with an impressive 34 points. Fresh scoring was rounded out by Wilder with 16 points and Amerson with 11 points.

The Mavericks will come home to host the South Houston Assault on Thursday night, March 6, 2014 at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum. Tip-off will be at 7:30 PM. The Championship Cup against the South Florida Gold will follow on March 8 & 9, 2014 at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum
