Mavericks Defeat Metroplex Lightning in Blowout In First Game Of Post-Season

MAVERICKS SCORE SHEET:

FINAL SCORE:

#1 - Shreveport/Bossier Mavericks 159 - Metroplex Lightning 86

GAME COMMENTS:

The Shreveport/Bossier Mavericks played their first of four post-season games that will keep them playing and active up to the ABA Championship Finals on April 10-15 that will be held at the Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, LA.

The Mavericks started out fast with stifling defense and with an extra gear in their step Saturday night. The Mavs were all over the Metroplex Lightning from the opening tip! Mavericks wings Ed Horton and PJ Couisnard set the tone early with aggressive baskets and old fashioned hard nosed defense.

Shreveport/Bossier Twin Towers Jon Rogers and Brandon Davis swarmed the paint and blocked everything in sight! This got the Mavs out and running as they ran away with the 1st Period 41-17.

The Mavericks bench went deep Saturday evening as every Mavericks Player played in the 1st half. The Mavs built a huge lead at halftime as they led 79-40 heading into the locker-room.

The 2nd half proved to be no better for the Lightning from the DFW Metroplex. The Mavericks would not let up as they extended their lead throughout the 3rd and 4th quarters of play.

The Mavs went on to a 159-86 victory to record their 28th win on the season thus far.

The Mavericks will remain active and will play all the way up to the ABA Championship Finals.

"This just the way we do it!" stated Mavericks Head Coach Steve Tucker when asked about the Mavericks active post-season schedule.
